Reducing Pain In Your Pregnancy
The maternity belt is one of the most useful, yet one of the least known pregnancy products on the market.
Wearing a maternity belt during your pregnancy can support your bump and lower back reducing or removing pregnancy related pain and can make your entire pregnancy more comfortable – some say it can even reduce the chance of you getting stretch marks!
During your pregnancy your body produces a chemical called Relaxin which softens the tendons and ligaments around your pelvis enabling it to widen during labour.
However, if this process starts too early, the tendons and ligaments surrounding your pelvis may slacken slightly and you can experience a small side to side movement in the pelvis. This slight movement reduces the support your pelvis can provide to your lower back and tummy which can result in discomfort ranging from a dull ache through to sharp shooting pains almost anywhere in your body but most commonly in the back, across the tummy, or down your legs.
In the most extreme cases this movement in the pelvis, along with the increased pressure from a growing bump, can result in the pelvis locking and the individual being unable to move for varying degrees of time and, if this happens frequently, can be debilitating and may need crutches for support or even complete bed rest.
However a maternity belt can resolve a vast majority of these symptoms and can make your pregnancy a lot more mobile and comfortable.
The maternity belt is designed to provide lift to your bump, reducing the pressure on your pelvis and support to your lower spine, giving you an improved posture that will create a more comfortable position for your bump, which should make your whole maternity experience more comfortable.
If you find any pregnancy related pain persists for a long period or symptoms get worse, then please check with your doctor. In the meantime, if you feel you need just a bit of extra support, try a maternity belt and feel the benefits you can experience for yourself.
